Calling him nasty is harsh and unfounded. I'm sure Alexander is a fine fellow - but he offers such a refined rationalization that the plot-holes stick out to me. For example, he states: "Let's be clear. There ARE right-wing elements in Ukraine, nationalist battalions and stuff." Without stating that RU has its own (fringe) nationalistic, right-wing neo-nazis too. As does every country in the EU and North America. What I read in this interview feels at times defensive and so focused on rationalizations (with nary a peep about the mayhem and destruction). "Putin's just myopic." He's out of touch. He doesn't choose his own books. ALL TRUE. But one has to temper the rationalizations with a non-myopic look at what the Butcher in the Kremlin is doing - to his OWN young men and to Ukrainians. I hope he can offer more balance in future interviews because these are the musings of a Russian-patriot first (his words) whose hopeful his illustrious education and professional credentials provide cover for discourse that, IMHO, is a defense of pro-Russia propaganda. He'd rather not HELP Biden or 'the free world' squeeze his country? I understand that... and I'm sure many non-Nazi German intellectuals in '44 thought the same.
Its exactly what he said, he is Russian, he doesnt feel comfortable advising US president how to be successful against his country. He analyzed overall situation but he stops there. Cudos to him.
This holds up extremely well, one year later. Fantastic
Is he Jewish?
No, he's Ossetian.
Love that we see Sasha’s true agenda in the last line. So telling.
What a nasty piece of work he is

China is just waiting until the right moment to give off the Russian Far East.
Hive off
In other words, only China wins.
wtf was that last line about . .

Perhaps he doesn’t want to be charged with treason or be murdered?
His last point about not giving advice to Biden so he can use it against Russia is telling.
And it erodes my faith in what this man has to say.
It's what most Russians without a death wish will do. Novichok is an effective deterrent.
Thanks. Well said.
